The new speaker of the house

As puppy-raisers, we're expected to teach our charges at least 30 commands. Only one is optional: Speak. Some dogs will not Speak no matter how hard you try to teach it. Darby (our fourth CCI pup) particularly frustrated us. She was the most verbal dog we've ever had, producing a virtual symphony of moans, yips, and barks. But mostly, she barked at Tucker. We could never get her to Speak, nor would Yuli. Tucker and Brando learned the command and would perform reliably. I might have begun to wonder if there was some gender influence -- except that we saw plenty of other females in our puppy classes Speaking.

And now Dionne! Check this out:

What excites us most is that she's not even 3 months old.  (Brando and Tucker didn't learn until they were around 8 months.)

We could almost see the wheels in her little brain turning, as she was figuring out what we wanted her to do. Tucker helped with the instruction. (We told him to Speak, which he did, with Dionne watching him intently.)

Now the question is: will she Speak too much? (She's only supposed to do it when commanded, but already she has started...um...expressing herself more than that.)
